An Accra Circuit Court has issued an arrest warrant for Ida Boateng, also known as Ida Boampong, after she failed to appear in court on charges of making death threats, in violation of Section 75 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).

His Honour Samuel Bright Acquah presided over the case.

According to ASP Raymond Ackom, who led the prosecution, the complainant, Josephine Farida Oppong Isa (also known as Ayam Atwuma Mansa TheBaker), is a teacher and baker with a large social media following on Facebook, where she promotes her baked goods.

Boateng, a Kumasi-based businesswoman who runs “Ida’s Kiddy World,” became acquainted with Isa on Facebook in 2020. Isa frequently purchased children’s clothing from Boateng through delivery services, though the two had never met in person.

Tensions reportedly began on April 26, 2024, when Boateng accused Isa of sharing private matters with a mutual friend, Cynthia Abena Grentchen, based in the United States. The following day, Boateng allegedly sent threatening WhatsApp audio messages to Isa, including phrases like, “I’ll kill you faster than cancer,” and “I am your worst nightmare,” along with similar written threats.

On April 29, 2024, Boateng allegedly escalated the situation by posting Isa’s photo on an Instagram page managed by a second suspect, “Aba the Great,” who reposted it with a caption suggesting Isa was bullying others on social media. Another individual, Theodora Amoaniwaa, reportedly a friend of Boateng, allegedly sent Isa a WhatsApp message on May 17, 2024, stating, “I’ll show you pepper… very soon, you’d die.”

Isa subsequently filed a complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), prompting an investigation. When police contacted Boateng to assist in the investigation, she allegedly refused, instead sending a WhatsApp message stating, “Take me to court if you have any case against me. My lawyer will meet you wherever you ask her to come.”

Following this, the court issued an arrest warrant. Boateng was eventually apprehended on September 8, 2024, in Kumasi and handed over to the Homicide Unit for further investigation. The police are actively pursuing her alleged accomplices, who remain at large.
