The High Court in Accra has directed the Electoral Commission (EC) to proceed with the collation and declaration of the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituency Parliamentary Election results.

Presided over by Justice Rev. Joseph Adu-Owusu Agyeman, the Court also instructed the Inspector General of Police to ensure adequate security for the EC at all collation centres to facilitate a smooth process.

This ruling, delivered on Friday, December 20, follows a Mandamus Application filed by the incumbent Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri.

The application sought to compel the EC to fulfil its constitutional mandate of collating and declaring the election results.

In response to the application, the EC, represented by its legal counsel Justine Amenuvor, acknowledged receipt of the notice and chose not to oppose the request.

Nine constituencies remain unresolved due to contentious circumstances.

These include Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Ahafo Ano South, Ahafo Ano North, Obuasi East, Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, Tema Central, Techiman South, and Dome-Kwabenya.

Earlier, on December 13, the EC announced the suspension of the re-collation of results at the Tesano Police Depot.

The EC cited security concerns and procedural irregularities as reasons for the halt
