The Amasaman High Court has reduced the prison sentence of controversial evangelist Nana Agradaa to 12 months from 15 years.
The court acknowledged that the original 15-year hard labor sentence handed down by the trial court was excessively harsh. While affirming her conviction, the appellate court exercised its discretion to moderate the punishment.
The revised sentence is retroactive to her conviction date on July 3, 2025, meaning Nana Agradaa will serve a total of one year in prison.
The court noted that although her offence warranted punishment, the severity of the original sentence was disproportionate under the circumstances, justifying a downward adjustment.
Nana Agradaa, a former fetish priestess who became an evangelist, was convicted earlier this year.
Her initial 15-year sentence sparked public debate and legal scrutiny. The appellate court’s ruling keeps her conviction intact while significantly reducing the custodial term.
