The Eastern Region will on Monday, September 27, 2021, begin a mass vaccination across the region.

The move, according to the regional health directorate forms part of measures by the government to help reduce the spread of the deadly covid-19 virus.

The Kwahu West Municipal  Director of Health, Madam Celestine Asante in an interview said because the country don’t have the full capacity for the doses required, it makes it difficult for everyone to be vaccinated.

She indicated that from Monday, 27th September, 2021, every district within the region will begin the vaccination.

Madam Celestine Asante noted that the mass vaccination are solely for those who have not been vaccinated since vaccines were introduced to fight the covid-19 virus.

She stated persons who have not taken their second dose of vaccination are eligible to beseech the Municipal Assembly for their vaccines which will end tomorrow, 24th September, 2021.

According to her, the health directorate have outlined seven posts for the vaccination to take place. The places include Zongo junction, Hillside Pharmacy, the New station, Attah ne Attah, Domeabra, Holy Family Hospital and others.

She stated that the health directorate have only been able to acquire 3,500 to 5,000 AstraZeneca vaccines for this exercise.

She added that out of the 120, 422 population within the Municipality, only 2,010 persons have been vaccinated which has a day – born old to seventeen (17) years of the numbers, representing 25% of the population with a deficit of eighty thousand (80,000) persons unvaccinated.
