The COVID-19 Health Recovery bill 2021 has been passed by Parliament despite opposition from the Minority.

The bill is to introduce a COVID-19 health recovery levy on the supply of goods and services in the country as well as the import of goods and services to raise revenue to support COVID-19 expenditure and related matters.

Minority Leader, Haruna Idrissu called for a rejection of the bill, which he said will only heighten the plight of the ordinary Ghanaian.

The bill sought authority to enable a sum of money not exceeding some GHS129 billion to be issued from the consolidated fund and such other public funds during the financial year commencing from 1 January 2021 and ending on 31 December 2021 for the purpose of meeting government expenditure.
