Council of Elders of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) with immediate effect has ordered all factions and aggrieved members of the party to remain calm as it works towards finding a lasting solution to the current misgivings.

In a release signed by the Chairman of the Council of Elders, Mr. Felix Amoah charged the aggrieved parties to stay calm at this moment for the sake of the party for all issues arising to be resolved strand by strand.

According to him, the unconstitutional manner per article 82(f) of the party’s constitution, in which affairs of the party appear to have been handled at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Kumasi which claims to have ousted the current chair and leader, Nana Akosua Sarpong Kumankuma of the party was illegal.

This, which was reported by Senior Comrade Christian Yao Zigah as the said meeting was found to be strange and alien to the party’s constitution.

Meanwhile, the Council of Elders wishes to remind the National chair and leader to continue with the party’s current reorganization exercise which has already started as per the consent judgment of the High Court suit number GJ/0859/2023.

This statement comes on the backdrop of an earlier press release on December 6, 2023, where the Council of Elders of the party formally met on the issue.

Base on this, the council through Article 68 of the party’s constitution instituted some measures such as restore stability of the party as a prerequisite for the forward march of the CPP and also revoked the supposed decision by some members of NEC “Interim Council” of ousting the chair and leader of the party.

Mr. Amoah said the attempt to force the current chairperson and leader out of office is also unconstitutional.

The Council of Elders have also become aware of the involvement of its former Secretary, Comrade Subiri Isah in a fresh uncalled for legal action against the chair and leader of the party.

He said the court suit supposed to have been triggered by the ‘party’ to force her to resign her position is uncalled for and illegal.

Comrade Isah is therefore urged to immediately withdraw this unnecessary latest suit from court or face the wrath of the party.

In view of this situation, the chair and leader of the party are hereby urged to convene a Central Committee meeting to take quickly remedy the situation pursuant to stemming the further deterioration of the fortunes of the party.
