Madam Esther Aframoah Asante, a matron at Daboase Senior High Technical School (SHTS) in the Western Region has been arrested for allegedly smuggling foodstuff meant for the school feeding programme.
The stolen foodstuff included rice, oil, sugar, tin tomatoes, margarine, sardines and mackerels.
Madam Esther is reported to have smuggled the food items into a tricycle (Pragya) when the students had gone for preps.
According to an eyewitness, who is a national security operator, this was not the first time the matron was smuggling foodstuff from the school.
She is said to have been reported to the police at Daboase leading to her arrest along with Pragya driver known as P Kay.
When interrogated, she told the police that she bought the items from a nearby store but the store keeper of the supposed store denied selling anything to her.
She is in police custody assisting in investigations.
