Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Chairman of the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, has cautioned against any plot to remove the Inspector General of Police (IG0), George Akuffo Dampare, from his position.
According to Mr. Agyapong, the IGP has done significantly well since assuming office, praising him for minimising robberies and other crimes across the country.
“If you go to the police headquarters and look at the things that Dampare has done, truthfully, the man has done well,” he said in an interview with Kessben TV in Kumasi.
“Since Dampare came, how many times have you heard about armed robberies since he became the IGP. The issues of armed robbers killing people in broad daylight has massively reduced.”
He further highlighted some of the changes the IGP has brought, citing infrastructural changes.
“The changes he has brought including setting up a radio station for the service and how they have painted the place, I do not want to mention names but since I became Defense and Interior committee chairman, some IGP’s have come and go but this man, what he has done, I think they’ve not be fair to him,” he said.
“Someone asked me about him and I told him that they should not make a mistake and remove him because of his achievements.”
