Deputy Minister visits LEAP beneficiaries in Volta Region

The Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, (MoGCSP), Madam Francisca Oteng Mensah in the company of the Ag. Director of the Department of Children, Mrs. Florence Ayisi Quartey and some staff have paid a working visit to some Districts in the Volta Region on 29th June 2023.

The Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, (MoGCSP), Madam Francisca Oteng Mensah in the company of the Ag. Director of the Department of Children, Mrs. Florence Ayisi Quartey and some staff have paid a working visit to some Districts in the Volta Region on 29th June 2023.

Their visit was to monitor the ongoing payment of the 83rd and 84th cycles of LEAP cash grants to beneficiaries in the Region.

As part of the visit, the Deputy Minister and her entourage paid a courtesy call on the District Chief Executive Officer of South Tongu District, Hon. Seth Kwasi Agbi to inform him about the team’s presence in the district and also to interact with him on the pilot LEAP reassessment programme.

The Deputy Minister and her entourage visited Sogakofe and Sokutime pay points in the South Tongu District.

At the pay points, Madam Francisca Oteng Mensah informed beneficiaries about the 100% increment in grant amount to beneficiary households.

She also sensitized them on other government social interventions such as the NHIS, school feeding, and free SHS, amongst others.

“Government is committed to ensuring that the poor and vulnerable groups are not left behind”.

She also advised beneficiaries to put the monies into profitable ventures.

Some beneficiaries testified that the grant has helped them to engage in petty trading, payment of hospital bills, and school fees among others.
