Diplomatic Corps join President Mahama for new year’s reception at Jubilee House

President of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, welcomed members of the Diplomatic Corps to the annual New Year’s Greetings ceremony at Jubilee House, reaffirming Ghana’s commitment to strengthening international relations and cooperation.

The event brought together key dignitaries, including Vice President H.E. Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Chief Justice Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, members of the Council of State, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and representatives from 62 embassies, high commissions, and international organizations.

The ceremony was accompanied by musical performances from the Envoys Choir of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ghana Police Band.

In his address, President Mahama extended warm New Year wishes on behalf of the government and people of Ghana. He emphasized the significance of the gathering as a symbol of renewed partnerships and a commitment to fostering deeper diplomatic ties. He also highlighted key initiatives that his administration plans to undertake, aimed at strengthening Ghana’s international collaborations and development efforts.

Foreign Affairs Minister Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa also expressed his appreciation for the presence of the diplomatic community and their support during the recent presidential inauguration. He acknowledged the challenges faced globally and stressed the importance of continued cooperation to uphold democratic principles and multilateralism.

Speaking on behalf of the Diplomatic Corps, the Dean of the Corps and Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Maher Kheir, congratulated President Mahama and Vice President Opoku-Agyemang on their successful elections. He extended best wishes to the Ghanaian government and its people, expressing optimism that 2025 would usher in an era of progress, peace, and prosperity.

The New Year’s Greetings ceremony remains a key diplomatic event, reinforcing Ghana’s role as a dedicated partner in global affairs and a nation committed to building enduring international friendships.
