Some aggrieved members of the three teacher unions have called on their leaders to call off the strike since it is not their priority.
The unions NAGRAT, GNAT and CCT declared strike last Friday, November 4, 2022, over what they say is the government’s failure to meet their deadline to terminate the appointment of Dr Eric Nkansah as acting Director General of GES.
In a statement by the spokespersons of the group, Mr Richard Asante and Benjamin Nana Anfom, they have other pressing needs that should be addressed and not the dismissal of the Director General.
“Teachers need the cancellation of the promotion examination and other pertinent issues therefore the dismissal of the Director General is not a concern of teachers now”
According to the statement, union leaders never asked teachers for their opinions and as a result, they cannot support a strike with such flimsy justifications.
However, the teachers are planning to demonstrate against the leaders of the unions for declaring such a strike due to their parochial and selfish interests.
The group urges teachers to go to work since the dismissal of the Director General does not warrant strike action.
