The Ghana Police Service has debunked claims suggesting that, its Inspector General (IGP), Dr. George Akufo-Dampare, has been asked to proceed on leave.
Reports on news portals revealed that, the IGP has been asked to hand over duties to his deputy, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, in regards to the 2023 leaked tape scandal.
The police in a statement signed the ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs, has urged the public to refute such claims because its purpose is to mislead and misinform the public.
“The Inspector General of Police remains committed to his patriotic duty of leading the Ghana Police Service as per the mandate given him by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo”, portion of the statement clarified.
