Djiku wins Player of the Year award at Ghana Football Awards

The fourth edition of the Ghana Football Awards was successfully held at the Grand Arena, Conference Centre.

The fourth edition of the Ghana Football Awards was successfully held at the Grand Arena, Conference Centre.

The Ghana Football Awards scheme which has become the most coveted in the football space celebrates footballers, coaches, clubs and administrators who have done great exploits within the year under review.

Ghana Premier League champions, Asante Kotoko, won the most awards at the 2022 edition of the Ghana Football Awards.

Strasbourg’s player Alexander Djiku also won the Foreign-based Footballer of the Year and Footballer of the Year awards.

He beat competition from Thomas Partey (Arsenal), Daniel Amartey (Leicester City) and Mohammed Salisu (Southampton) and goalkeeper, Jojo Wollacott to clinch the top prize.

AS Roma’s Felix Afena Gyan was also named the winner of the Odartey Lamptey Future Star award on the night.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies- Female Team of the Year

Asante Kotoko- Male Team of the Year

Porcupine Tertiary- Special Fan Of The Year

Nana Yaw Amponsah- Asante Kotoko – CEO of the Year

Sadio Mane- Best African International

Iddrisu Abdulai- Goalkeeper of the Year

Asante Kotoko- Most Vibrant Award on Social Media

Grace Asantewaa- Real Betis – Female Footballer of the Year

Yaw Annor- Best Home-based Player of the Year

Meshack Asante (Golden Kicks) Goal vs MPP- Goal of the Year

Yaw Annor- Goal King

Felix Afena Gyan- Nii Odartey Lamptey Rising Star Award

Alex Djiku- Foreign-based Player of the Year
