Dormaa East MP donates chop boxes, provisions to SHS 1 students in his constituency

The Member of Parliament for Dormaa East constituency in the Bono Region, Hon. Paul Apraku Twum Barima, has donated chop boxes, plastics, soaps, and other provisions to over 500 students in his constituency who have gained admission to the various senior high schools across the country.

The Member of Parliament for Dormaa East constituency in the Bono Region, Hon. Paul Apraku Twum Barima, has donated chop boxes, plastics, soaps, and other provisions to over 500 students in his constituency who have gained admission to the various senior high schools across the country.

Speaking on his behalf during the donation, the First Vice Chairman of the NPP in the Dormaa East constituency, Mr. Anthony Kwabena Oppong (A.K.A. Kobby), disclosed that the MP has planned to enhance education in the constituency, hence the decision to support school-going children to attain higher heights for a better future.

He explained that the Member of Parliament started supporting the JHS final-year students in his constituency with mock examinations and proceeded to the offering of chop boxes, provisions, and other equipment needed to help their stay in school, which commenced in 2021, where over 300 students benefitted. In 2022, 350 students were selected, while over 500 students were chosen this year.

He added that Hon. Paul Apraku Twum Barima has contributed a lot to the improvement and development of education in the Dormaa East constituency by providing scholarships to brilliant but needy students and aiding in the construction of classroom blocks in most of the communities with deficiencies in educational facilities.

Mr. Anthony Kwabena Oppong explained the criteria used by the member of parliament for the selection of these 500 beneficial students, indicating that a notice was served for each final-year student to get registered at the office of the MP after completion, and also that Assembly members and teachers of all Basic schools in the constituency were given a slot to present students for consideration.

He called on all constituents of Dormaa East to pray for Hon. Paul Apraku Twum Barima and give him more time in parliament to facilitate development for the people of Dormaa East.

Mr. Badu Frimpong, Head of Supervision of the Dormaa East Educational Directorate, who spoke on behalf of the Education Director, Mr. Philip Adom Danso, expressed gratitude to the MP for the kind gesture in ensuring the improvement of education in the area. He charged the populace to maintain the MP for the development of the constituency.

Some beneficiary students and parents spoke to newsmen and expressed their heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Paul Apraku Twum Barima for his unending contribution to the course of education in the area.
