Dormaa Central Municipal Environmental Health Officer, Mr. Justice Owusu Ansah Pobi, has issued a strong call to food vendors, drinking spot operators, and hotel staff to uphold strict hygiene standards in their operations to prevent the spread of infections.
Speaking to GIFTs News, Mr. Pobi emphasized that the public must prioritize hygiene when purchasing food from vendors, as poor sanitation can lead to the outbreak of diseases such as cholera.
He stressed that the Department of Environmental Health is intensifying efforts to identify and penalize those who fail to maintain sanitary conditions.
“We urge the public to support our initiative by avoiding vendors who operate in unsanitary environments,” he stated. “This will serve as a deterrent and encourage better hygiene practices in the community.”
As part of ongoing measures, Mr. Pobi encouraged the public to practice proper handwashing before meals to curb the spread of cholera and other hygiene-related infections.
With cholera cases on the rise during the dry season, he revealed that the Environmental Health Department has prioritized sanitation initiatives this year.
These efforts will align with the sanitation drive championed by the Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Council, Osagyefo Oseadeayo Dr. Agyemang Badu II, aimed at keeping Dormaa and its surrounding areas clean.
Furthermore, Mr. Pobi reminded residents that the Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly has strict sanitation bylaws in place, which will be rigorously enforced against individuals who dispose of waste indiscriminately after the chief’s cleanup exercises.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment, urging all stakeholders to contribute to maintaining proper hygiene standards in the municipality.
