A strategic plan for the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU), has been validated at a meeting of stakeholders in Accra on 10th June, 2021.

“The plan will greatly enhance the capacity of the unit to reduce domestic violence within the domestic setting”, said the Director of DOVVSU, Chief Superintendent Owusuaa Kyeremeh at the opening of the meeting.

COP Mrs. Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, the Director-General/Welfare, hinted that the Police is being supported by stakeholders to set up a one stop centre to provide holistic support to abused victims -women, children and men under one roof and details will be shared with the public at the appropriate time.

She also encouraged the public to report domestic violence incidences to the Police for redress.

Representatives of UNICEF, Anne Claire Dufay and the Second Secretary from the Australian High Commission, Denica Kyle took turns to appreciate the Ghana Police Service for its work in the area of domestic violence and urged the Service to continue in its efforts to bring the menace the barest minimum.
