The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has launched the CitizenApp, an official app of the Government of Ghana for all citizens and residents of the Republic of Ghana.
The NPP flagbearer who has been a key advocate for Ghana’s digital transformation efforts in his address during the launch said the CitizenApp will improve access to a wide range of government services and deliver vital information to citizens in real time.
“Since 2017, the government of H.E. President Nana Akufo-Addo has set Ghana on a digital transformation journey towards a brighter and more efficient future for our country. A future where technology empowers our citizens, strengthens our economy, creates opportunities and offers a more responsive governance for all Ghanaians.” Dr. Bawumia noted
Dr. Bawumia said the CitizenApp will streamline interactions between citizens and government agencies, making processes more efficient and transparent.
According to him, one of the key features of CitizenApp is its Data Interoperability System, which allows different systems and platforms to exchange, interpret, and use data meaningfully.
“The CitizenApp will enable seamless communication across various sectors by connecting diverse technologies and formats. In essence, CitizenApp will break down barriers between previously isolated data systems, enabling them to work together effectively.
I urged all Ghanaians to embrace this CitizenApp.” He added
Data Interoperability System
Data Interoperability System refers to the ability of different applications, platforms, or systems to exchange and interpret data seamlessly, regardless of their underlying technologies.
The goal is to ensure that data is shared and used efficiently across multiple platforms without the need for complex integrations.
For example, in the healthcare sector, such a system could allow hospitals, insurance companies, and pharmacies to exchange patient information securely and accurately, improving service delivery.
