Bryan Acheampong, MP for Abetifi, has commissioned a new state-of-the-art lorry station and Union office for taxi drivers in the constituency.
The facility is expected to improve transportation services and ease congestion in the area. Works on the Lorry Station include offices, conference room, 3 washrooms, tollbooth, waiting area, storeroom, paving of 1060m² compound and a parking shed and was undertaken by MSO Engineering Ltd.
During the official handing over ceremony on Sunday, April 5, at Abetifi, Dr. Acheampong emphasized the importance of maintaining the station and encouraged taxi drivers to work together to ensure its success.
The project is part of Dr. Acheampong’s efforts to boost local infrastructure and support economic growth. The community welcomed the development, citing benefits for residents and traders.
In a bid to ensure proper maintenance of the facility, the MP donated the sum of Gh¢50,000 as seed fund for the yearly renovation and repainting of the office.
He has also pledged to reconstruct the Abetifi Central Police station. Additionally, he disclosed that chiefs in Abetifi have given a land for the construction of Abetifi Durbar grounds, a replica of what he has constructed for Nkwatia-Kwahu.
He added that he will complete the Kwahu State House, an ultra-modern facility that house all important and VIP events within the Kwahu bloc. Between 2023 and 2024, the MP facilitated the construction of the Mpraeso to Nkwatia, through to Abetifi, Hweehwee, Abene and Dwebrease, totalling 52km.
He has also supported the education of several SHS students enrollment as well as Junior High school students who have been admitted at the Achimota school.
On Friday, April 3, the MP commissioned the Abetifi Anglican School Astro Turf, marking a significant step towards football development in Kwahu.
During the commissioning of the lorry station, he noted that, he intends to upgrade the Astro Turf into a stadium that can allow for the playing of premiere league matches.
Abetifihene and Okwahu Adontenhene, Akyemfuor Asiedu Agyemang III, imolored the drivers to ensure proper maintenance of the station. He cautioned the drivers eschew the ‘in-fighting’ among themselves and work together for the progress of the facility.
