Hon. Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Member of Parliament for Abetifi Constituency, has donated a cash amount of GH₵190,000 to the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) team of Abetifi Presby Senior High School.
The Minister of Food and Agriculture stated that GH₵60,000 should be given to five contestants who made it to the semi-finals of the 2022 NSMQ competition and GH₵30,000 to the five contestants who made it to the quarterfinals of the 2023 NSMQ competition.
The lawmaker applauded the teaching staff who trained these students to reach this great height and gave them GH₵100,000 for the good work done.
The donation forms part of his commitment and continuous support geared towards raising the standard of education within the Kwahu East District and Kwahu in general.
Dr. Acheampong charged the school authorities to prepare a comprehensive plan to guide all subsequent preparations towards NSMQ participation.
At a meeting with the school management on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, the Abetifi MP expressed his goal of producing brilliant students in his constituency.
According to him, he acknowledges the value of education to human development and the transformation agenda of the government, hence the need to ensure the delivery of quality education in his constituency.
In recent years, the minister has sponsored a number of students from his constituency to pursue higher education at certain universities in the country.
