The Eastern Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Cudjoe Adukpo has called on the government to reduce the size of ministers in order to save the economy from collapsing.
He said the size of the Akufo-Addo government is only having a negative toll on the country’s budget.
In an interview on Republic FM on Friday, February 18, 2022, Mr. Cudjoe revealed that government already derives tax from the electronic transactions on mobile money from the telcos, hence there is no need adding additional woes to the suffering masses.
“If we want to derive more revenue, this is not the only way, already, government takes levy on momo transactions from the telcos” he added.
However, he contended that, another aspect for the government to accrue the Gh¢6.9 billion it wants from the E-levy is to drastically slash off the 125 ministers in government.
“We have so many sectors, and another one is, if the government wants the Gh6.9 billion, they should slash off the ministers and unnecessary created portfolios” he said.
