A 21-year-old man has been found dead in a galamsey pit at Akyem Aboabo Bompai, a mining and farming community in the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern Region.
According to reports, the deceased has been missing for three days, and his causing the family to undergo rigorous situation in search for him.
His lifeless body was discovered floating in the pit, which was left uncovered after illegal mining activities.
Police has moved in and retrieved the body and deposited at the morgue awaiting an autopsy report.
The abandoned and unsecured galamsey pit poses a significant threat to unsuspecting residents.
