The Bretuo Abusuapanin of Boadua reported that a group of people, believed to be from the Boadua Aduana Family, violently stormed the Chief’s Palace, damaged the main entrance and forcibly entered the premises to destroy a shrine.

The violent action was to ostensibly take over the palace from Bretuo Family to occupy.

Upon receiving the complaint, Police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they successfully restored order and prevented the situation from escalating into a wider conflict within the community.

As part of investigations, eight suspects were arrested. They include Baffour Kwame Agyei, Kwabena Twum, Baffour Kwame Annor, Baffour Kofi Dankwa, Maxwell Frimpong, Eric Dankwah, Nana Kwaku Frimpong, Baffour Kwasi Ampaabeng, and Baffour Yaw Anya.

A statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs of the Eastern South Regional Police Command, DSP David Fianko-Okyere, said the suspects have been granted police enquiry bail and are expected to be arraigned before court on Thursday, December 18, 2025.

The Police have cautioned all parties involved in the chieftaincy dispute to exercise restraint and allow due process to take its course, warning that any further acts of lawlessness will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

Attempts to destool the Chief of Boadua who has ruled for over 20 years has resulted in fierce Chieftaincy dispute in recent years creating insecurity.

Recently, Okyenhene Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin condemn those behind the attempted destoolment and called on the security agencies to enforce the laws.

Growing Chieftaincy disputes in Ghana continue to threaten peace and stability.

On December 15, the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim told parliamentary committe on Chieftaincy that, national security data shows nearly two-thirds of the 429 conflict hotspots identified nationwide are linked to chieftaincy disagreements, a trend he says poses a serious threat to peace, stability, and the credibility of the chieftaincy institution.
