E/R: 9 perished after deadly head-on-collision on Nkawkaw-Accra highway

At least nine (9) persons have lost their lives after a deadly head-on-collision that occured at Nkawanda No:2 near Nkawkaw on the Accra-Kumasi highway.

The accident, according eyewitnesses who told Republic Online, occured at about 2:45pm on Tuesday, August 26.

The incident erupted when a trailer truck enroute Accra from Kumasi with registration number GN 114-21, made an overtaking while an oncoming sprinter bus with registration number AW-4619-14, from Somanya in the Eastern Region and heading to Kumasi, upon sensing danger, made an instant stop on the shoulders of the road to avoid collision.

Unfortunately, the trailer truck with a top speed overturned and drag the sprinter bus with its long tail, causing severe damages to the sprinter which resulted in the instant killing of 9 persons.

The sprinter bus, per images taken shows a mangled and severely ravaging end of the sprinter bus after the incident.

Evacuation and Emergency teams from Nkawkaw have responded swiftly and taken the dead bodies for preservation and autopsy while police begins investigation into the incident.

Some of the victims included a mother and child, whose bodies were dismembered, while others were critically injured.

The injured were rushed to Enyiresi Government Hospital and Kenop Hospital at Nkawkaw for medical attention.
