Chief of Abirem and Gyaasehene of the Kotoku Paramountcy, Nana Obrempong Akwasi Amo Tweretwie, has endorsed the candidacy of the New Patriotic Party flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for the 2024 general elections.

During a charged atmosphere at the newly constructed New Abirem Durbar grounds on Wednesday, June 21, Obrempong applauded Dr. Bawumia for his undiluted contribution to national development by the Akufo-Addo – NPP administration.

“Dr. Bawumia, myself, and on behalf of my people welcomes you to our abode. We’re highly grateful to you and President Akufo-Addo for all the developmental projects you’ve spread across our jurisdiction.

I’m speaking on behalf of the Kotokuman Manhene, Dr. Frimpong Manso. When you talk about NPP, you talk about Kotoku, just like Ashanti and NPP, and nothing can change that.

Dr. Frimpong Manso commends you, he says do not be afraid, you’re going to win. Your free SHS has been very monumental and an effective game changer in our Ghanaian Politics. We’ve seen all the major roads connecting Nkawkaw and Abirem, Abirem and Oda and all the adjoining roads you’ve constructed. We’re grateful to you and your government”, he exclaimed.

The chief called on Dr. Bawumia to help facilitate the Ofoase – Ayirebi town roads as well as Abirem to Kade road and all the other abandoned feeder roads in the area.

Obrempong used the opportunity and pleaded on Dr. Bawumia to grant the Birim North District a Municipal status as early as possible.

“When it comes to Internal Revenue Generation, Birim North District contends with Metropolitans not even Municipal, we’re doing well but our challenge is the District status, once you’re here, we’re calling on you to help grant us Municipal status”, he added.

The Abirem Government Hospital was also a top priority, where Obrempong asked Dr. Bawumia to assist in the expansion of the facility which serves most Districts in the area.
