Manager of former Ghanaian footballer, Asamoah Gyan, Mr. Samuel Anim Addo has made a passionate appeal to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akufo Dampare to call his men at Kwahu Osubeng to order to stop intimidating residence in fight against illegal mining popularly known as galamsey.

The Youth in Kwahu Osubeng in the Kwahu South Municipality of the Eastern Region called on the manager of the former captain of the Black Stars, a native of the town to add his voice to the actions by some police personnel over their refusal to accept the operation of illegal mining in the community.

According to the youth the have on countless occasions opposed illegal mining in their community and as a result they are being maltreated by the police.

Mr. Anim Addo has therefore called on the IGP to as a matter of importance come over and have first hand information about the issues or call for a report on those who have been arrested so far in relation to illegal mining.

He added that, “chiefs who are behind pushing for illegal mining activities in the area for their own interest should be ashamed of themselves for maltreating their own people for fighting against this bad menace in the area”.
