Residents of Kranten Krachie and other communities have been cut off from the rest of the Afram Plains South District in the Eastern Region due to heavy rains.

The flood washed off the main bridge that connects Kranten Krachie community to other communities, with hundreds of commuters getting stranded due to the situation.

Speaking to Republic 97.5FM at Nkawkaw, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Area, Mr George Ofori said the Assembly has met with the Feeder Road Engineer who has assured them of reconstruction of the damaged part of the road and the bridge.

Mr Ofori said the engineers will soon start work on that stretch of the road and would also construct the damaged bridge to allow vehicles access the road.

β€œThe Feeder Road Engineer came from Koforidua to access the situation and that stretch of the road is one of my priorities because the town is among the first in the area, I did my first project of building a school and also install solar panels at the health canter as a DCE,” he stated.

The DCE said the community is lagging behind in terms of development and all efforts are being made to get the community the required social amenities.

On his part, the NADMO Coordinator for the Afram Plains South, Mr Stephen Afram also said the bridge was poorly constructed.

He said the construction of the bridge would take time but the assembly and the various authorities in the District would meet to discuss ways of curbing the problems.
