E/R: DCEs in Akyemansa bloc worried about new strain of mosquitoes

Some District Chief Executives in the Akyemansa bloc in the Eastern Region which comprises Achiase district, Birim South district, Birim Central municipality and Akyemansa district have expressed worry about the new breed of mosquitoes in the area which is very deadly and have called for government support to fight it.

It has come to the attention of health authorities in the Akyemansa bloc of Eastern Region that a new breed of mosquitoes has invaded the area they are mostly found in Cocoa farms and normally bite the farmers and inject malaria into their body systems and it’s very difficult to treat in the various health centres across the bloc.

DCE for Achiase district who doubles as the dean of MMDCE in Ghana; Hon. Richmond Kofi Amponsah Agyabeng speaking to the media has revealed that about 300 people in his district have been admitted to the hospitals of which he has personally been a victim of this deadly new mosquitos bite and he suffered before finally got healed.

He has therefore called on the Ghana Health Service and government to as a matter of urgency to come to their rescue and provide a lasting solution to dealing away with the new breed of mosquitos in the area.

The district chief executive for Birim South, Hon. Asare Danso has also confirmed that his district has gotten reports from some Cocoa farmers concerning the new breed of mosquitos in their farms and has called on the government to assist the various districts in the Akyemansa bloc to fight it.
