The newly elected Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Eastern Region, Mr. Jeff Konadu Addo has said, party delegates in the region were solely responsible and had influence in his quest to go for the championship position in the region.
“When I was bringing my secretarial position to an end, I thought about how well I’ve lived with the party executives in the region, my relationship with them. They urged me to go for the Chairmanship position so we can continue our good works for the party and I had no option than to listen to their call”, he told Kwame Koranteng on Republic FM’s Anopa Dawuro on Monday, May 30.
He admitted he was optimistic because his first round of campaign in all the 33 constituencies was solid especially, in the Kwahu block where he comes from.
However, he stated that he was not sure to garner any support from New Juaben and Akuapem where his main contender, one Kwadwo Agyemang hails from.
“Seriously I believed Juaben and Akuapem was going to be a challenge for me, for the obvious reasons, that is where my opponent comes from but I was very sure Kwahu, Akyemansa, Krobo was solid but I was surprised a lot came through from the places I thought I would pull nothing”, he said.
Unfortunately, Akuapem North constituency executives were not able to take part in the regional elections because their constituency elections were not conducted during the party’s constituency level elections.
Mr. Jeff Konadu pulled 424 votes against his main contender Kwadwo Boateng who pulled 200 votes.
