Deputy Minister for Energy, Dr. Mohamed Amin Adam has lauded the efforts of stakeholders in the various projects of Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO) Trust Fund.

He made these remarks when he addressed a gathering at the formal commissioning of 17 basic schools at Abomosu, Atiwa West district of Eastern region.

Dr. Amin shared with the gathering the various accomplishments of the trust fund and how it has been beneficial to Ghanaian education since its inception.

In the second cycle institutions, amenities such as buses and trucks, books for several libraries, Home Science Equipment, Science Laboratory equipment among others has played very pivotal roles in the lives of students.

At the tertiary level, the construction of a cluster of buildings at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), a hostel facility for the University of Cape Coast, a hostel facility for the University of Ghana, Legon just to mention a few, has been some projects that the education sector has benefitted from.

The Deputy minister underscored how VALCO Trust Fund ’s decision to lead with an amount of GHȻ6,800,000.00 to start the construction of 18 Schools in all the regions will eliminate the menace of schools under trees.

“I am glad that all the schools have today been completed and fully furnished”, he said.

“The ministry has also committed to provide each newly built school under this initiative with electricity at no cost to the community or the school”, he added.

Dr. Amin Adam thanked all traditional rulers present, Executive Director of Valco Trust Fund, Chief Director of the Ministry of Energy, Director General of GES, and all dignitaries for the participation and support and declared the facilities duly commissioned.
