The issue of ensuring proper sanitation has been one of the many major challenges in the present day Ghana.
Nsuta-Nkawkaw, a suburb of Kwahu West Municipality is no exception to this very growing menace facing the country.
A dumping site at the Nkawkaw-Nsuta has been engulfed with filth making residents in the vicinity live with the strong and very unpleasant smell emanating from the refuse site.
A team from Republic Fm led by Citizen Kofi Afreh visited the dumping site, a scattered and physically unhygienic and unbearable smelly refuse has totally taken over the beautiful atmospheric nature of the area after the team captured unpleasant pictorial contents from the site.
Responding to questions by Kwame Koranteng, host of Anɔpa Dawuro on Republic Fm, Honorable Nana Onwona Kofi Isaac, the assembly member for the electoral area reiterated that, the issue of sanitation has been a challenging issue facing the Kwahu West Municipality.
According to him, the dumping site has been in an existence for the past 40 years.
Reacting to what has been the major actions being taken by the assembly, he maintained that, his outfit has had series meetings with the municipal chief executive, Hon. Yaw Owusu Addo and that, measures are underway to get rid of the refuse.
Streamlining one of the measures to address the issues, he said, ” We have pleaded with the people to desist from dumping refuse at the site whiles we wait for the rains to go down, then we can get rid of it. The place will no longer be a dumping site after we are done dealing with the filth.”
