The Ghana Tourism Authority is making preparations to partner with private individuals to develop tourist attractions in the Kwahu enclave.

The GTA being the backbone of Ghana’s tourism couture is willing to pull all strings to ensure that Ghana’s hospitality sector is boosted to draw investors and tourists into the country.

The Board Chairman of GTA, Mr. Seth Adjei Baah while in a panel discussion on Republic FM’s Anopa Dawuro with Kwame Koranteng on Thursday, April 14 outlined a number of benefits the Kwahu Easter brings to the people of Kwahu aside the Paragliding, he stated that the Kwahu Easter will fetch in revenue for commercial drivers, food vending points, hotels will be fully booked as well stimulating the economy of Kwahu.

“Every hotel in Kwahu is full up because people are coming for that purpose and Easter and so, drivers, food operators and hotels will make revenues and its drives the economy of Kwahu and so from now till the next week ahead, the money that will come into Kwahu will be huge”.

Responding to questions on how many tourist attractions are identified in Kwahu apart from the Kwahu paragliding, Mr. Benjamin Anane – Nsiah, the director of products and investment at the GTA revealed that they have identified most attractions including the Caves, Bruku rock and Afram Plains waterfalls as well as Presbyterian legacy.

“We have identified many aside the paragliding, we have Caves, the Bruku rock and the Presbyterian legacy and bear in mind, Kwahu is not Mpraeso, Atibie and Nkawkaw alone, it goes a long way and so there are a lot of attractions we can package for credible attractions”, he added.

The director noted that most of the identified attractions are currently in stages of completion but are work in progress.

“Some are in different stages, some have gone into stages than others, but they’re work in progress and if the paragliding is operating, people can travel and tour these attractions and that’s how we develop tourism”.

The GTA official added that, in most cases of developing a tourist attraction, these must be a Private – Public Partnership because in most sense they land or the site may belong to an individual, a traditional authority or a district Assembly.

“In most times it must be a partnership between private and public because to may belong to a traditional authority or a district Assembly or even an individual and so necessarily, they must be part of it”

He said, in the investment aspect, it must be a private capital but in the actual sense it must be Private – Public Partnership.

“It’s not like we don’t get the investors. It’s both sides, the processes and challenges. It’s more of the awareness and I’m not sure many people have heard about the opportunity because there are more opportunities in Kwahu and if you make known, someone will pick it up by all means”

The board chairman further added that, this awareness and the eagerness to wool and invest in tourism will not only be channeled in Kwahu but across the country.
