A KIA driver carrying fowls from Pepease–Kwahu narrowly escaped death after his vehicle caught fire on Wednesday evening at Atibie in the Eastern Region.
The driver, Kwabena Abrokwa was carrying the fowls from Pepease-Kwahu to Accra.
According to the driver whiles descending the Kwahu Mountains from Atibie, he realized the clutch of the vehicle was not functioning.
He said, he was forced to drive the vehicle to the other side of the road in order to prevent it from descending into the pit.
It is unclear what caused the fire, but no casualties or injuries were recorded as the man quickly got out before the fire became intense.
“I was coming from Pepease-Kwahu with fowls loaded in the vehicle. Whiles descending, I realized my clutch was smelling, I tried all I could, I had to hit the side of the mountain because I will fall in the pit if I go down.” The Driver said
Meanwhile, Police and other security agencies were later present to bring the situation under control.
