The Paramount King of Akyem Abuakwa, Amoatia Ofori Panin is allegedly reported to have been engaging in yet another chieftaincy brawl with Kotokumanhene over the stool of Adoagyiri.
According to a letter circulating on social media on the official stationery of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council seeking to install a rival chief of Adoagyiri on Saturday 23rd February 2023, has been sighted publicly.
Due to this development, Akyem Kotoku Traditional Council and Chiefs of Adoagyiri have risen against an intended enstoolment of Odehyee Ntiamoah Karikari.
The Adoagyiri town has its own Chief, Okoanadwo Afutu Dompre ll who has been on the stool for seventeen years. This action by the Okyehene is said to create factionalism and insecurity in the area.
Reports say there have been attempts by Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council to conquer and sell lands in Adoagyiri and its environs which from time to time resulted in casualties which infuriated the Chief of Adoagyiri who took the matter to the Regional and National Houses of Chiefs. After deliberations, judgements from the courts came in favour of the Adoagyirihene.
The judgements have since infuriated the Okyehene Amoatia Ofori Panin who has allegedly vowed to use governmental power to unleash hell and brimstone on Adoagyirihene and make the inhabitants of Adoagyiri and its environs live in fear.
The Okyehene is alleged to have revised his tactics and with the support from the Presidency and connivance of some sections of the Adoagyirihene family is seeking to install a rival chief.
Adoagyirihene is head of the Ankobea division of the Kotoku kingdom and has since 1860 paid homage to the Kotokumanhene and install a rival chief who would pay homage to Okyehene and would make Adoagyiri part of Akyem Abuakwa.
Mawerehene of Adoagyiri, Etuosrebour Safo Kankam briefed the media about the history of Adoagyiri.
He further indicated their resolve to resist any incursion into Adoagyiri lands and oppose any attempt to install a rival chief of Adoagyiri.
