E/R: Man arrested at Akwatia-Boadua for possessing firearm and ammunition

The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a 42-year-old man for possessing a firearm and ammunition without authority at Boadua in the Denkyembour District.

According to police sources, the incident occurred on Saturday, August 23, 2025, when a patrol team stationed at the Livingstone Junction snap check point intercepted a vehicle driven by the suspect, identified as Peterson Joseph.

A search conducted on the vehicle led to the discovery of an ADLER TULPAR pump-action gun and 46 AAA and BB cartridges packed in boxes.

The suspect was immediately arrested and escorted to the Akwatia Police Station together with the retrieved items.

During interrogation, Mr. Joseph admitted ownership of the firearm and presented a licence with file number EPK/2381/2025, dated March 21, 2025, which he claimed covered the weapon.

Police have indicated that the licence will be forwarded to the Small Arms Commission for verification and confirmation of authenticity.

Meanwhile, the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
