A young man identified as Daniel Agyei, more commonly known by the nickname “Friday”, has reportedly lost his life at Akyem Old Tafo in the Eastern Region on Saturday, April 25, following an incident involving a mobile phone.

Preliminary reports established that the deceased fell asleep with his mobile phone placed on his chest whilst it was plugged in and charging.

Allegations have surfaced that marks consistent with an electric shock were subsequently discovered on his chest, raising significant concerns regarding the potential cause of death.

Whilst the authorities are yet to release a comprehensive report on the incident, the news has already sparked widespread concern throughout the local community.

Residents have been left in sadness, as the tragedy highlights the potential dangers associated with the improper handling and usage of electronic devices, particularly during charging.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Akyem Tafo Government Hospital, where it awaits further examination.
