A man believed to be in his early 30s has allegedly killed his girlfriend at Trom, a suburb in the New Juaben South Municipality in the Eastern Region.
Myrepubliconline.com sources gathered that the gruesome incident occurred at Trom Junction 5 on Saturday morning, June 17, 2023.
According to our sources, the deceased (name withheld) reportedly comes from Koforidua-Betom, another well-known suburb in Koforidua, but relocated to Trom a year ago to flee from the suspect after he allegedly threatened her when she decided to break up with him.
The co-tenants in the house where the incident took place recounted that on the day of the incident, the deceased met with the suspect outside her house and brought him to her room when there was a naming ceremony ongoing in the house.
The suspect allegedly attacked the victim in the room and stuffed a piece of cloth into her mouth before stabbing and slitting her throat.
Reports say he subsequently scaled a wall and threw away the knife with blood stains before absconding.
The suspect, however, reported himself to the police later in the evening while wearing a red shirt with the inscription “Rest in Peace” at the back.
Crime scene investigators visited the scene and, after inventories, retrieved the body, which was left in a pool of blood, for the morgue.
According to reports, the police also brought the suspect to the crime scene Sunday afternoon to search for the knife and other offensive objects used to commit the crime.
