Motorists in the Eastern Regional Capital, Koforidua, have expressed worry and deep concerns over the malfunctioning of most traffic lights in Koforidua.
According to them, the traffic lights at the Central Hospital, Charley Junction, Kenkey Factory, and KTU Junction have not been working for years, and authorities seem not to be bothered.
“This has resulted in a series of crashes leaving lives at risk”, motorists lamented.
Speaking to the Eastern Regional Director for the Department of Urban Roads, Ing. Samuel Mensah, he mentioned that he is aware of the concerns of motorists and measures are being put in place to fix them.
The director also mentioned that his department faces some challenges since most of the parts of the traffic lights need to be imported, but he is assured that he is working swiftly to address the problem.
“It’s not a deliberate on the side of the department of urban roads to look unconcerned when there are faults for them to fix”, he stressed.
