The Member of Parliament for Mpraeso Constituency, Hon. Davis Ansah Opoku (OPK) has presented some selected information and technology equipment to two schools in his constituency.
The MP, during his campaign in the run – up to the 2020 general elections, pledged to undertake three major projects in the constituency, which are the provision computers for some basic and Junior high schools, Network booster in some rural and remote areas including Sukwa as well as the construction of the Sukwa road.
Mr. Ansah Opoku on Friday, May, 31, together with his entourage presented 50 pieces of smart tablets, four charging cabinets, one projector, a laptop for the ICT tutor and ten robotic learning kits as well ten robotic devices to the Asakraka – Kwahu M/A Basic School.
At Sukwa, one of the remote areas in the MPs constituency, a similar handing over was held to present another set of Information and Technology equipment to the Sukwa Basic School.
Speaking in an interview with Republic FM’s Andy Frimpong Manso, the MP said, this forms part of his commitment to ensuring that eduction in his constituency, especially ICT, will go further steps forward.
Mr. Ansah said, he’s looking forward that the provision of these electronic devices will boost their academic performance while admitting that, performance of students in the constituency hasn’t been of the best he’s looking out for.
He stressed that, his outfit together with the Education Directorate will work assiduosly to improve the quality of their BECE and WASSCE results.
“Today we presented these computers to the Asakraka M/A Basic and Sukwa Basic schools. We presented 50 tablets each, 10 robotic learning kits, 10 robotic devices, laptops for the teachers and four charging systems each.
We’re hoping that, education in general, and the provision of these equipment will be beneficial to the students while we’re also urging them to be disciplined in their respective areas”, he stated.
The MP charged the Municipal Education Directorate, the chiefs and the teaching staff to ensure proper use of the equipment provided. He further warned the badnuts in the communities to refrain from any attempt to break into the facility. He said if anyone is found culpable, the law will strictly be applied.
On his part, the Municipal Education director, Mr. William Nyarko Frimpong, after receiving the devices on behalf of the schools, commended the Member of Parliament for his tremendous effort towards the improvement of education in the area.
Mr. Frimpong assured that, these devices will go a long way to providing basic knowledge to the students on the usage of electronic devices and its information technology benefits in this modern era.
“We’re very grateful to the Honorable MP. We’re pleased with these items. We’re also assuring that the items presented to us will bring changes in the areas of information technology learning. His commitment to education in the Kwahu South is overwhelming”, he added.
The MP, through his personal coffers also absorbed the cost of super mock organized by the Municipal Education Directorate in Kwahu South, at a cost of Gh¢34,000 cedis.
The directorate has indicated that, as part of efforts to ensure an – improved performance in their BECE results, the students are required to sit for preps between 7:00 to 8pm each day.
A total of one thousand, three hundred ninety – two (1,392) will benefit from the MPs decision to absorb the cost of the Super mock charges.
Each year, the MP supports all the various BECE candidates in his constituency with mathematical sets, pens and learning materials, feeding money and Gh500 each for best performing students.
