It is unclear what led to the accident, but sources indicate that the two vehicles caught fire moments after the impact, leading to the death of the 5 market women, with some charred bodies.

According to police sources, the driver of the truck is yet to be found after the accident as police intensifies it’s investigations into the unfortunate incident.

Sources at the Lower West Akim Municipal Assembly confirm that the assembly’s scheduled stakeholder engagement with market women, which was supposed to have come on Wednesday, was cancelled by the MCE Paulina Akabila when the sudden news of the unfortunate incident got to their attention.
