The NDC constituency secretary, Kwabena Yeboah – Korankye has declared his intention to contest for the Kade Parliamentary seat in the country’s 2024 General elections.
Speaking to Republic News, Kwabena Korankye, said that he will contest the Parliamentary primaries of the party when nominations are opened in the coming months.
The hard working activist in Kade, affectionately referred to as Okyeman Lawyer is an experienced politician who has gone through the phases of leadership in the political sphere of the National Democratic Congress.
Kwabena Yeboah-Korankye’s aspirations to become the representative of the Kade constituents is mulled on many modules, such as; Health, Infrastructure, Quality Education and basically, youth development and empowerment.
The Kade constituency is a well known political catchment area for the Elephant Party with an average 65% votes margin since 1996.
The incumbent Alexander Agyare polled a distinctive 32,550 voters, representing about 64.90%,whilst a representative of the NDC, Emmanuel Kofi Nti gathered 10,079, representing 28.07% in the 2020 general elections.
Nonetheless, to Kwabena Yeboah-Korankye, he is optimistic and committed to break the NPP jinx in the constituency through an intuitive campaign message that will elaborate and have a positive effect and impact on the political mindset of the constituents to vote based on competence rather than political loyalty to stimulate development in the area.
In his assertions, the Kade Constituency has not seen any major developmental face-lift to improve the living conditions of the people due to incompetence and complacency of NPP Members of Parliament voted for over the years.
Mr. Korankye told Republic News that his decision will either make or break the party.
“My decision will either break or make our party. Over the last few years, we have been made to believe that for the past 30 years the Kade constituency parliamentary seat has been the safe seat of the new patriotic party. But for some of us, we think that, this is a figment of people’s own imagination.”
In his fervent position, he believes previous parliamentary candidates who contested on the ticket of the NDC did not show enough commitment to win the seat from the NPP.
“Over the last few years our party has been submitting candidates that we believe have not shown interest in annexing the seat from the New Patriotic Party. I have come to submit myself to the critical scrutiny of all party members for you to elect me as your next parliamentary candidate and subsequently the Member of Parliament for Kade Constituency from 2025.”
He reiterated that he will not relent on his commitment to make Kade Constituency the seat of the NDC.
“My decision to contest this position is not borne out of the fact I always want to occupy positions but I have made a decision to become a Member of Parliament and I shall contest until I become one,” he affirmed.
The NDC Activist, Kwabena Korankye -Yeboah attended Ghana Senior High School (GHANASS), one of the buoyant second cycle schools in Ghana at Koforidua.
He later obtained Bachelor in Social Sciences, and Msc. Public Policy and Management, University of Cape Coast (UCC).
He has a Bachelor of Law from University of Professional Studies (UPSA), Accra.
Okyeman Lawyer as he’s well known was a Student activist whilst studying in UCC and served as Public Relations Officer for TEIN, a Student Political youth wing for the NDC in UCC.
He occupied the Deputy Constituency Youth Organizer position, and subsequently clinching the Constituency Youth Organizer for the NDC at Kade.
He’s a strong Communications team member of the NDC Eastern Regional Communications Team, an Elected Assembly Member, Asuom-Amanfrom Electoral Area.
He was elected Kade Constituency Secretary of the NDC in 2022.
Korankye is a husband with three beautiful children.
