The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended a member of the Afram Plains North Constituency in the Eastern Region, Kpeli Worlase for alleged acts of misconduct.
The suspension, contained in letter dated July 24 and signed by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey takes effect immediately.
Per the letter, the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the NDC highlighted several allegations against Mr. Worlase such campaigning against the party’s Parliamentary candidate and other forms of anti-party activities in the constituency.
“At its meeting on the 23rd of July, 2024, FEC deliberated on the matter and decided to suspend you from the party pursuant to Article 48 of the Party’s constitution and subsequently refer the matter to the national disciplinary committee for adjudication”, the letter said.
The letter further noted that, “the Disciplinary Committee will invite you [Kpeli Worlase] for a hearing, and it will be in your best interest to avail yourself for adjudication to enable the Committee to submit a report with recommendations to FEC for further action”.
Kpeli Worlase contested the 2018 parliamentary primary to present the party for the 2020 general elections and lost the bid to the sitting MP with a total of 418 votes as against 629.
