A deadly accident on the Nkawkaw–Accra highway has resulted in the death of a taxi driver after a VIP bus with registration number AK-9090-20 and Toyota Vitz with registration number GB-5273-22 collided.

The accident happened on Friday morning, September 5, 2025, at about 8:45am at Jejeti and Sekyere, town that shares boundaries with Kwahu West and Atiwa East.

Eyewitnesses told reporters that the VIP bus driver, attempted to outweigh an unforseen potholes which resulted to the bus veering into the lane of the oncoming taxi, which resulted in the crash. Reports say the taxi driver lost his life at the spot.

The impact forced the taxi off the road into the bush. The Nkawkaw teams from Nkawkaw Fire Service and Ambulance Service rushed to the scene and managed to retrieve the lifeless body of the driver. The VIP bus driver, who sustained injuries, was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
