The Eastern – South Regional Police Command has arrested a man in connection with an unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition at Adoagyiri in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality.

The suspect, identified as Abdul Rauf Salami, a resident of Adoagyiri Zongo, was arrested on Friday, 23rd May 2025, at about 9:30 p.m. during an intensified police operation targeting all entry and exit points of the township.

The operation forms part of a broader police response to recent disturbances reported in the area.

According to a police statement signed by ASP Foster Owusu of the Public Affairs Unit, Eastern South Region, the following items were retrieved from the suspect: two pump-action guns, 64 rounds of AA ammunition, a cutlass, a knife, and an ammunition vest.

“The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigations and is expected to be arraigned before the court to face justice,” the statement said.

ASP Owusu further assured the public of the police’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the area.

“We would like to assure the public that we will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the safety and security of the Adoagyiri Township. We therefore urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police,” the statement concluded.

The Police Command says further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
