Officers of the Ghana Police Service in Somanya have launched investigation into the purported killing of a Pragyia rider.

The body of the 30-year-old, identified as Samuel Otu was recovered by the police lying near a gutter. The tricycle, with registration number M-23-GR 7942, was found in flames next to him at Dorhetso, a suburb of Somanya in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region.

Sources say the victim and other occupants of the tricycle were allegedly pursued to the area around 2am on Saturday, May 3, after being accused of theft.

Eyewitnesses say other occupants in the Pragyia managed to flee leaving the deceased behind.

Samuel Otu was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Yilo Krobo District Hospital, minutes after examining the body.

His remains have since been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for preservation and autopsy.

Meanwhile, police say no arrests have been made.
