A 40-year-old prison officer, identified as Lance Corporal Paul Badu, met his untimely death during rehearsals at the Koforidua Prison Park for the upcoming 67th Independence Day parade.
According to reports, Lance Corporal Paul Badu complained of dizziness and was immediately rushed to the prison’s clinic for initial treatment, but due to the seriousness of his condition, he was transferred to Eastern Regional Hospital.
Information available to Republic Press further suggests that Lance Corporal Paul Badu suffered a ruptured aneurysm which is likely caused by high blood pressure.
Tragically, medical staff were unable to save the officer, resulting in his death.
Lance Corporal Paul Badu joined the prison service in 2018 and left behind a wife and two young children, aged one and a half years old and one-month-old baby.
In response, the management of the Koforidua Prison has implemented measures to monitor the blood pressure of officers participating in Independence Day parade rehearsals, ensuring their health and well-being are prioritized.
