Pupils of Dunkro D/A basic school in the Afram Plains now resort to studying in a hencoop – like structure due to the unavailability of a modern classroom block for the children.
The students do not have proper place to sit and study.
A visit to the school revealed that the pupils were seen sitting under structures same as ‘hen coop’ while staff teach them.
Due to infrastructure deficit, some of the classes have been combined to take their studies together in a single room.
The classroom blocks of the school are in a deplorable state, while some manageable ones have developed deep cracks, posing danger to the students, the teachers and even passerbys.
A staff of the school, Mr. Edward Amuzu told newsmen that, they are really suffering, adding that the school has seen no renovation or development since its establishment.
He revealed that Dunkro D/A primary was established in 1970 but has seen no improvement. The old structures are the same ones the students are using currently.
He lamented poor state of the classroom blocks in the school and called for immediate intervention before things get out of hands.
One of the worst and painful challenge he disclosed was that, when rain starts drizzling, students should be asked to go home else the roof on the classrooms leak and the rain will fall on them.
He opined that all efforts to get the situation solved have proven futile.
He’s therefore appealing through the media to the government and other stakeholders to come to their aid by providing them with infrastructure.
