Three persons believed to be relatives have lost their lives after a vehicle they were aboard plunged into a river in an attempt to avoid a head-on collision at Enyiresi along the Accra-Kumasi highway in the Eastern region.
The driver of the accident vehicle, a Hyundai Sonata with registration number GS 7776-19, reportedly lost control of the steering wheel, somersaulted, and plunged into a nearby stream while attempting to give way to an oncoming Sprinter bus, which was overtaking another vehicle.
All three occupants of the Hyundai vehicle—two females and a male—drowned instantly.
A joint rescue team of police and firefighters went to the scene to pull the car from the river.
The bodies were retrieved and deposited at the morgue pending identification.
