A board member of Akroso Senior High School, Mr. Obeng Amunti, has emphasized that the intake of “wee toffee” by some students, especially the young boys at Akyem Akroso in the Asene Manso Akroso district of Eastern region, is on the rise and having a negative impact on their academics.

He described Akyem Akroso as “just like hell” in the evening because there are all sorts of activities going on in the area.

Mr. Obeng revealed that students are mostly exposed to indecent activities like drinking, smoking and other unworthy lifestyles which undermines their academic work.

Mr. Obeng Amunti made this statement during his address to the chiefs and people of Akyem Akroso at the 66th independence day celebration at Akroso Senior High School park, where he presented awards and a ransom amount of money to the three best students who excelled in the BECE within the district.

The three best BECE candidates in the Asene Manso Akroso district who received the awards happened to be students of Akroso Salvation Army JHS A&B.

Speaking to the media, the headteacher of the school, Mernard Amo Boateng, expressed his excitement and sincere gratitude to Mr. Obeng Amunti for awarding the brilliant students, which will certainly motivate other students to take their studies seriously.

The three students who received the awards also spoke to the media and expressed their excitement and sincere gratitude to Mr. Obeng Amunti for his motivation, and they promised to learn hard at the Senior High School level for a brighter future.
