The Eastern Regional Directorate of the Ghana Tourism Authority has said the authority could not meet the targeted passengers they registered to fly the Parachute during the Kwahu Easter festivities.
The regional GTA explained that the inconveniences were based on meteorological expedience that could not allowed the pilots to fly most of its registered passengers.
The Eastern Regional GTA boss, Mr. Frederick Adjei – Rudolph made the statement whiles speaking to Kwame Koranteng on Anopa Republic FM’s Dawuro on Tuesday, April 19.
“Ghana Tourism Authority, specifically, our job was to organise the paragliding festival in Kwahu and apart from that we did monitoring of events during the period”.
Stating how efficient and coordinated the event went, Mr. Frederick noted that the paragliding was very successful but could not rule out it’s expectations of the number of passengers that were earmarked to fly the Parachute.
“The paragliding went well, even though our expectations in terms of the number of persons that we wanted to fly did not happen due to bad weather conditions during the two days of the event thus, Saturday and the Sunday, but apart from that, largely the event was very successful and the only disappointment was that we could not meet the target of people that registered to fly and it was due to the weather”, he said.
He admitted that although, majority of the people that registered were present but could not have the chance to fly.
He added that, concerns about the cost of flying the Parachute cannot be addressed even though the authority wishes to reduce the price in order to make accessible to everybody but the cost of putting up paragliding event is very huge and that, Ghana has the cheapest cost of accessing or experiencing a Parachute.
