All is set for the Eastern Region to host the 2022 National Farmers Day celebration from Tuesday, 29 November, with the climax on Friday, 2nd December 2022 at the Koforidua Jubilee Park.

The day is meant to honour farmers for their immense contribution to the development of Agriculture in Ghana.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his Vice, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and some government officials including the Minister for Agriculture, Dr Afriyie Akoto are expected to grace the event.

Since it was introduced by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in 1988, the first Friday in December has been set aside to honour farmers and fishermen for their efforts in feeding the nation and recognize the vital contribution of a strong Agricultural sector to the prosperity of the Ghanaian economy.

This is the fourth time that Eastern Region will host National Farmers Day since its inception. Due to the national celebration that will be hosted in the region, all the Municipal and Districts celebrations will be observed on the 25th of this month to pave the way for the national event.

According to the Eastern Regional Director for Agriculture, Henry Kobina Crentsil Jnr, local Committees have been set up to augment the efforts of the National Committee to organize successful events.

He said Security Personnel will be deployed to vantage points in the region to ensure an incident-free farmers’ day celebration.
